What Is the Invisalign Treatment Process?

If you have an orthodontic issue, you may find yourself in a little dilemma right now. You are self-conscious about your smile, but the thought of spending a couple of years with a bunch of metal wires in your mouth makes you feel quite nervous.

Luckily, there’s also the option of Invisalign in Lombard. These clear braces offer the same results as traditional orthodontic treatment, but they are more discreet and comfortable to wear.

So, in this article, we are going to tell you everything you can expect from the Invisalign treatment process.

What Is the Invisalign Treatment Process?

Schedule a Consultation with a Certified Orthodontist

Before anything, you need to make sure that you are a good candidate for Invisalign. While these clear aligners can help solve a variety of orthodontic issues, if your malocclusion or misalignment is too severe, you may need a different treatment plan.

During this initial consultation, your Lombard dentist will examine your teeth, take X-Rays, and answer all your questions about the process and what it involves.

Create a Personalized Treatment Plan

If everything goes well during the initial consultation and you are indeed a good candidate for Invisalign, then your dentist will next create a customized treatment plan. This means that the dentist will create 3D images of your teeth and use this information to create a plan and show you how your teeth will shift during the treatment.

You should note that not all of your teeth will move at once. The dentist will target a couple of teeth at a time and focus on shifting their position before moving to the next set.

Getting the Clear Aligners

Once the clear aligners have been designed specifically for your teeth, the dentist will put them on.

Invisalign is more comfortable and convenient to wear than traditional metal braces. These clear aligners won’t create any irritation or small cuts inside your cheeks when wearing them. You can also take them off when you are eating, drinking your tea or coffee, and when you are brushing your teeth. Just make sure to wear them for at least 22 hours every day for the treatment to be effective. It usually takes about one year for the treatment to be completed, but if you don’t wear your transparent braces as instructed by your dentist, the duration of the treatment might get longer.

You Will Routinely Get a New Set of Aligners

About every two or six weeks, you will have to visit your dentist so they can check up on your progress and give you the next set of aligners.
