Six-Month Teeth Cleanings & Oral Exams
A six-month teeth cleaning and oral exam is at the foundation of preventive dentistry. During this appointment, you’ll come to the office of Dr. Brett Blacher, DDS, and one of our hygienists will scale, polish, and floss your teeth, and perform an initial oral exam. X-rays may be taken if you do not have any updated x-rays.
Then, Dr. Blacher will discuss your oral health with your hygienist and perform his own exam to look for cavities, gum disease, and other common oral health problems. Then, he will discuss his findings with you, give you advice on maintaining a healthy smile, and schedule any follow-up treatments that you may need.
Oral Cancer Screening
As part of every six-month cleaning and oral exam at our office, Dr. Blacher will perform an oral cancer screening and look for any potential signs of oral cancer. It’s very important to catch oral cancer early before it spreads throughout the body. By getting regular screenings for oral cancer, you can get peace of mind. And, in the rare case that Dr. Blacher believes you need further diagnosis and care, our team can help you get a biopsy and refer you to the appropriate professionals.
