Is It Safe To See The Dentist During COVID-19? What You Need To Know

Wondering if it’s safe to see a dentist like Dr. Brett Blacher, DDS during the COVID-19 outbreak? Here is some information about the precautions we’re taking to keep our patients healthy and to prevent the spread of this virus.

Patient Checks & Precautions

First, we’re implementing some basic patient checks and precautions to ensure that we do not treat patients who have potentially been exposed to COVID-19. These include temperature checks, asking about recent travel, and whether you’ve been around people with COVID-19.
We also request that you do not arrive early, and we’ve made changes to enhance social distancing in our waiting room, and to space out appointments throughout the day to ensure there are fewer people in our office at any given time.
You can get more information about what’s expected of you before your appointment by contacting the team at the office of Dr. Brett Blacher.

Daily Sanitation And Cleaning

Our primary method of preventing the spread of COVID-19 is by daily sanitation and enhanced cleaning precautions. We are disinfecting all surfaces in each office between each appointment, and disinfecting and cleaning dental tools more often to ensure that there is no cross-contamination between appointments.

In addition, we will be protecting our tools with covers and other barriers between uses, which will help reduce the transmission of airborne particles that could carry COVID-19 between individuals.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PPE is essential for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping you and our staff members safe. That’s why we’ve invested in N95 masks and face shields, and other protective gear for Dr. Blacher and the rest of our team members.

We also will be using dental dams more frequently. These rubber dams are placed into your mouth during treatment, and isolate individual teeth that are being treated with a filling, crown, or another procedure. They help minimize the spread and aerosol (airborne particles) released when performing common dental operations.

Training On Infection Control

Dr. Brett Blacher is already an expert on infection control, and all dentists go through rigorous training on proper best practices for reducing the spread of transmissible diseases. From changing gloves more frequently to washing hands frequently, minimizing the touching of surfaces like counters where microbes may collect, Dr. Blacher and the team at our office will take every precaution to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spread.

Our Goal Is To Keep You Safe And Provide You With The Dental Care You Need

The COVID-19 outbreak may be slowing down, but it may affect dentists and dental patients for months to come, and it’s important that we all do our part to avoid spreading this virus whenever possible.

These are just a few of the precautions that Dr. Blacher has taken to protect our staff and our patients, and to ensure that you can still get the dental care you need in Lombard and the surrounding areas.
